Holy Baptism is the sacrement by which God adopts us as His children and makes us members of Christ's Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.
At St. Paul’s, we hold our services of baptism on Sunday morning, in the presence of the gathered parish family. The service follows the baptism service in the Book of Common Prayer, which begins on page 299. We offer baptism by effusion, which is another name for pouring. During the baptism service, the officiating clergy pours water on the head of the person being baptized.
In order to prepare for baptism, we ask that adults and older children seeking to be baptized, the parents of children to be baptized, and sponsors or godparents of candidates, attend our Baptism Preparation Class on the Saturday immediately preceding the baptism.
