For this reason a man will leave
his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two will become one flesh.
St. Paul's Archives... Wedding at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Mrs. John Richard Taylor
nee Susan Leslie Stone
January 23, 1969
Christian marriage is a rich blessing and weddings are indeed special at St. Paul’s. Our sanctuary, with its lovely stained glass windows and grand architecture, is a beautiful place to pledge your lifelong commitment to one another and to the Lord in the presence of God, family and friends.
The service, "The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage", beginning on page 423 of the the Book of Common Prayer (1979), is the liturgical form used for all weddings at St. Paul’s. The canon law of the church requires that at least one of the couple be a baptized Christian.
St. Paul’s weddings are always conducted by St. Paul’s clergy; however, other clergy may be invited to participate in the service with prior approval from the Rector. At least one member of the couple must be a member in good standing of St. Paul's.
We believe that adequate preparation is necessary for the success of a marriage. Premarital instruction is required of all couples as is an individual consultation with clergy.
Weddings are not scheduled for Sundays, during Lent, during Holy Week, and between Christmas and New Year's.
If you have questions, need to inquire about dates, or would like to arrange for premarital counseling, please contact the Ministry Office at (318) 865-8469 or email@example.com.
